Privacy policy

What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.

Who we are

SweatIt.co.uk is a directory of gyms, leisure centres and personal trainers in London, operated by Kieran Patel, New Malden, London KT3 3DW. Kieran Patel is the data controller for the personal data described here.

For anything in this policy, email info@sweatit.co.uk.

The short version

We set no cookies. We run no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. We do not profile you, and we never sell personal data. The only personal data we actively collect is what a personal trainer types into our sign-up form.

What we collect

If you are a trainer applying to be listed

Our sign-up form collects your name, email address, phone number, borough, area, main gym, years qualified, website or social handle, specialisms, how you train clients, qualifications and insurance details, and anything you write in the message box.

Lawful basis: consent. You give it by ticking the consent box, which states that your name, area, gym, phone number and email will be published publicly so people can contact you. We will not publish anything without that tick, and we email you before your listing goes live.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@sweatit.co.uk, and we will remove your listing. That does not affect anything done before you withdrew.

If you are just browsing

We collect nothing directly. Our host records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamp — for security and to keep the site running. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in operating a secure website.

If you use the postcode search

The postcode you type is sent to postcodes.io to convert it into coordinates. We do not store it. If you use "use my location" instead, your browser asks your permission first, and the coordinates are used in your browser only — they are never sent to us or anyone else.

Who else receives data

Visiting the site necessarily shares your IP address with these services, because your browser connects to them directly:

  • Netlify — hosting and form submissions. Servers may be outside the UK, covered by standard contractual clauses.
  • postcodes.io — postcode lookups on the Gyms page. UK-based, run by Ideal Postcodes on Ordnance Survey and ONS open data.
  • OpenStreetMap — map tiles, loaded only once you run a postcode search.
  • Google Fonts — typefaces, loaded on every page.

We have no other processors. No advertising networks, no data brokers, no social pixels.

How long we keep things

  • Sign-up submissions: kept while your listing is live, then deleted within 12 months of removal.
  • Unsuccessful applications: deleted within 6 months.
  • Server logs: retained by Netlify under their own schedule, typically 30 days.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another provider. You can also withdraw consent at any time.

Email info@sweatit.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Gym and leisure centre listings

Venue names, addresses, phone numbers and prices are business contact details gathered from public sources such as council leisure pages and operator websites. They are not personal data. If you run a venue and want a listing corrected or removed, email info@sweatit.co.uk.

Children

This site is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted details, email info@sweatit.co.uk and we will delete them.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are stored in Netlify's dashboard behind an account we control. We keep no separate database and no payment details — we never take payments.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting listed trainers will be emailed to them.
