Greenwich has more pools than most boroughs here and one genuine landmark among them. Charlton Lido, opened in May 1939, was the last municipal lido ever built in London — a 50-metre Moderne-style outdoor pool heated to 25 degrees all year, with a rooftop terrace and an open-air cycle studio. The borough's other centres are GLL-run and spread from Woolwich out to Thamesmead and Eltham.
